I feel proud to state that the college is an inseparable part of Urdu Education Society which is efficiently running various institutions and providing quality education to the community around. The various institutes includes secondary and higher secondary school (7 schools) and junior college being functional for past 45 years. Alongwith B.Ed. College the society is also running K M Asghar Husain Elementary teacher education (D.T.Ed.) College and K.M. Asghar Husain College of Education, Post Graduate Department (M.Ed.) and is excelling in the same too.
This college entertains the fame that it is the only self financed Minority institution of Maharashtra which is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC act, 1956. Also this institute is permanently affiliated to its parent university i.e. Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati.
All this success could be achieved because this college spares no effort to make its curricular and co-curricular activities top class and deliver it in the most effective manner. It constantly scans the developments in field of education and recent trends in the community and tries to pro-act to meet the challenges.
Its excellent faculty with its commitment and deep sense of service delivers the curriculum very effectively. Its Principal tries her best to induct the college’s best faculty properly and help them to imbibe excel culture and value and serve the students and the institute with great dedication. The faculty is also deeply involved in research and consultancy. Their involvement in community makes their teaching very relevant and current.
Our various departments and programs including the Placement cell, Alumni association, various seminars on education etc. have helped thousands of junior and senior teacher-trainees across the length and breadth of the country to update their knowledge and their skills. The college not only helps the teacher trainees but also in-service teachers to improve their professional efficiencies.

BRIEF NOTE ON THE STATUS OF K. M. ASGHAR HUSAIN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, AKOLA IN PRESENT TEACHER EDUCATION SCENARIO K.M. Asghar Husain College of Education, running under the aegis of Urdu Education Society, Akola started B.Ed. course in 1990. The college received its recognition from National Council for Teacher Education for this program in Teacher Education (B.Ed.) under self finance scheme with intake of 80 students and is permanently affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati. In the year 2003 this intake capacity for the B.Ed. course was increased from 80 to 100 students by the council vide its letter number WRC/5-6/46/2003/4877 dated 17-11-2003. The college is also recognized under section 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC Act., 1956 vide letter number F-8-44912006(CPP-1) dated 18th May, 2007 & F.No. 8-449/2006(CPP-1/C) dated 13th Jan., 2011. The college was granted permission by the NCTE to run M.Ed. in the year 2008 vide letter number WRC/5-6/105th/2008/39146 dated 18th Aug., 2008 with intake of 25 students. After this the council was pleased increase the intake for the M.Ed. course to 35 students in the year 2011 by the NCTE vide its number WRC/APWO/5351/125093/ 113001/148th 2010/74758 dated 10-02-2011.
The mission of the college is to inculcate the value based teaching learning in the pupil-teachers through the academic training, subject knowledge along with the extension activities for overall development of the trainees.
The college has a teaching faculty of eight lecturers including the Principal. There are five male and three female teachers. Non-teaching supporting staff comprises of one office Superintendent, three clerk, one qualified Librarian, four peons, one guard and one store keeper.
The college follows the curriculum, programmes and activities prescribed by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati. Theory and practice teaching is done as per the University norms.
The feedback is obtained from teachers, students, heads and teachers of practicing schools regarding curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular and other programmes.
The total teaching days of the session are 209 days which include 35 days of practice teaching. Each student has to teach 40 lessons compulsorily. The curriculum of the B.Ed. department is designed by the affiliating university and adopted by the college as it is.
The college follows the centralized admission policy. The State Government conducts a common entrance test and prepares a merit list. After that they allot the students to the college in various rounds of admission. The information about the college and its vision, mission, goals and objectives have been incorporated in its website i.e. www.kmahbedcollege.com. After getting the allotment letter from the MKCL centre, candidates take the admission in the college and their records are verified for admission in the college. When last round of the admission process is completed the Director of Higher Education, Pune organizes a camp & verifies the documents of admitted students and final list sent to Pravesh Niyantran Samittee for final approval.
The student’s knowledge in their respective method subject is assessed by the teaching faculty through oral tests. Two terminal examinations and 02 assignments in each paper are given to every student to evaluate their knowledge and skills. Pupil-teachers are engaged in active learning throughout the year. They are busy with curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes. Practice teaching keeps them busy in active learning. Every pupil-teacher has to give 20 lessons each in both the methodologies. Teacher-educators make use of ICT in demonstration of lessons and encourage students to use it in their practice-teaching lessons.
Evaluation of student performance is done continuously through tests and assignments. Internal practical work assessment is done throughout the year through evaluation of charts, models and their performances in various other activities.
Out of the eight lecturers including the Principal, six are having Ph.D. as the highest qualification and two are NET qualified. Two lecturers are pursuing their Ph.D. The college helps the lecturers in pursuing research in education and permits the teachers to attend seminars and workshops.
The student support and progression of any teaching department depends on the strength of the system efficiency developed within the department in terms of percentage of students successfully qualifying the examination. The result of last five years is progressive and it is more than 85%.
Students of SC/ST category get the scholarship under norms of State Government. Also the students belonging to minority sect is provided with all the help, on the part of the college, so that they can opt for the scholarship from Maulana Azad Foundation.
The college has also developed a feedback mechanism. The feedback received orally from the old students as well as students of the current session. On the basis of feedback corrective steps and appropriate measures are taken. Faculty members provide guidance to the students for better adjustment and also in solving day to day problems.
In the recreational facilities the college has the provision for indoor and outdoor games and different cultural activities.
All the faculty members are recruited by the management through the properly constituted selection committee of affiliating university as per UGC and State Government rules and approval is given accordingly by university.
