- IP addresses and subnet masks may be written with a slash, such as 15.50.212.59/20. This notation is called CIDR notation.
- IP addresses available to the internet are called public IP addresses, and ones that aren’t allowed on the internet are private IP addresses.
- NAT is used to conserve the number of public IP addresses a network needs by attributing multiple private IP addresses to one public address.
- The ipconfig command shows IP addresses assigned to all network connections.
- A unicast address sends messages to a single node on a network, while a multicast address sends messages to all nodes in a group.
