Rules about stressing syllables in Spanish:
If a word ends with a vowel, N or S, the stress goes on the 2nd to last syllable.
Examples:
camino charlan piñatas
If a word ends in any other consonant, the stress goes on the last syllable.
Examples:
hotel hablar pared
If there is an accent on any word, it means it does not follow either of these first two rules. The stress would go on the accentuated syllable. Accents can only appear over the Spanish vowels.
Examples:
estación teléfono lámpara
