AHAM-Hispanic-American Women’s Association Scholarship

Scholarship for Hispanic Americans attending college.


All-State Foundation Scholarship

3-$2,000 awards. “Keep the Drive” Journalism award in either Print or Broadcast categories.


Alpha Kappa Alpha

3 scholarships

Merit-Full-time sophomore or beyond, 3.0 GPA, community service.

Financial need-Full-time sophomore or beyond, 2.5 GPA, community service.

Army ROTC Scholarship

Contact number is in the Guidance Office.

Scholarship for Presbyterian College, Newberry, or Lander University. Full-ride scholarships are available. Applicants must be medically qualified, have good moral character, be a U.S. Citizen, and pass the Army PT test. Students must also have a 2.5 GPA, and have a 920 SAT or 19 ACT score.

Students can compete for scholarships in each area of study.

Bank of America ADA Abilities

Bob Hayes Invitational Track and Field

Charlotte Blackwell Nursing Scholarship

Open to graduating seniors pursuing nursing or current nursing students. Must attend Lander University of Piedmont Technical College.

Applications accepted from January 1st-March 29th of each year.

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program

For students who will be attending a 4-year accredited University who show an interest in the automotive industry. Candidates are likely to choose a course of study focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Design, Marketing, Finance, and Business.


Burger King Scholars Program

Awards given in the following amounts: $50,000, $25,000, $5,000, and $1,000. Must be a graduating senior with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Must plan to enroll at a 2 or 4-year accredited college, university, or vocational school in the U.S. , Canada, or Puerto Rico.


Camden Military Academy Summer Program

Boys entering grades 9-12. Program can help improve a grade or get ahead in 1 to 2 high school subjects


Carolina Tall Club

$1,000 scholarships for students who meet minimum height requirements of 5’10” for girls and 6’2” for boys.

Full and partial tuition scholarships for Washington University in St. Louis, MO. This is a merit scholarship. Essay, transcripts, recommendations, ACT or SAT scores will all be evaluated.

Family Circle Cup Scholarship

$5,000 for a female athlete who excels on and off the playing field. Award based on academic accomplishment, community involvement, financial need, and athletic ability.


Fire (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education) Scholarship

$5,000, $2,500, and $1,000 scholarships. This is an essay contest. Essays must be between 800-1,000 words.


Thomas “Fox” Abrams Scholarship

An award from the Palmetto State Law Enforcement Officers Association. An essay, high school transcript, acceptance letter, and proof of residency in South Carolina are necessary with this application.

Gates Millennium Scholars Program

A scholarship for minority students. Scholarship is open to students who will be entering college for the fist time in the Fall of 2012. Scholarship is good for the student’s school of choice and is good for all four years.


Goizueta Scholarship

Scholarship for Hispanic/Latino students attending Georgia Technical University. SAT/ACT scores, GPA, essay, leadership abilities, and financial need will all be evaluated for this scholarship.

Application to Georgia Tech must be submitted by 1/15/2012. Further requirements and dates listed.

Governor’s School Summer Research Scholars Math/Science

This is a two year residential high school in Hartsville, SC. This school is for academically talented juniors and seniors to complete college-level courses. Students must be a sophomore in any SC high school, have a GPA of 3.5, PSAT of 110, and completed Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, and English 2.

Students must apply by March 1st of their sophomore year.

Greenwood Association of Educational Office Professionals (GAEOP)

Application in the Guidance Office

$750 scholarship for a graduating senior who will be majoring in business, who will hopefully work in an educational area. Student must have taken at least 2 business courses. Must maintain at least a “C” average and a “B” average in business courses.

Greenwood High School Booster Club Team Player

Candidates must be excellent student-athletes. Students will also write a 250-word or less essay describing what influence GHS athletics has made in your life and how the scholarship would benefit you.

Greenwood Housing Authority

Applications can be found in the Guidance office when they become available.

$1,500 and $1,000 scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded to a candidate who lives in either public or section 8 housing pursuing higher education


Hamilton Award

$500. Must be a high school junior involved in community service that has a financial need.


Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund

$2,500 scholarship for students majoring in wildlife, fisheries, forestry, biology, zoology, marine science, environmental science, or related fields. Re-occurring scholarship for all four years. Student must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA. There are a couple of other smaller scholarships also listed on this website that students might be interested in.


Health Careers Academy AHEC

Students must be accepted to the academy. Eligible students should be in the 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grades pursuing a career in the health field. Transcript, reference letter, and essay are necessary for acceptance. Students accepted in the academy have opportunities for scholarship, test-prep, shadowing, skill training, professional certifications, summer internships etc.

Herff Jones Principal’s Leadership Award

$12,000 scholarship. Students must be nominated by their counselor and principal. A student will be nominated based on their leadership skills, participation in service organizations, achievements in the arts and sciences, employment experience, and their academic record.

Nominations must be received by 12/2/11

Horatio Alger Scholarship and

6-$5,000 scholarships for students who have “exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.” Students should be a resident of SC and intend to achieve a Bachelor’s degree. Students should exhibit a financial need ($50,000 a year or less of family income). Student should also be involved in co-curricular and community activities and excel in the classroom.

$1,000. Prospective college must be a participating member of the Imagine American Scholarship program. List can be found on the website.

INCIGHT Scholarship (Resources for Self-Empowerment)

Annual scholarship for students with a documented disability.

Applications will be released January 2012 and will be due March 30, 2012.

J.P. Coates/SCACT Scholarship

Applications can be found in the Guidance Office when they come available.

$500 and $1000 scholarships. Scholarship for students who plan on attending a 4-year accredited college or university pursuing a career in education. Must have a 3.0 GPA. Student must also demonstrate financial need.


James F. Byrnes Scholars

$3,250 Scholarship. For South Carolina students who have lost one or both parents.

Will be posted late November of 2011.

James O. Thomason Scholarship

$1,000. Student must attend an accredited institution of higher learning and pursue print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations, or mass communications. Must have a 2.5 GPA. Essay is also required.


Jesse Brown Scholars Program

Multiple awards are given up to $20,000. Must volunteer 100 hours at a VA hospital in order to qualify.

Kids’ Chance of SC

Scholarships for dependents of South Carolina workers who have been seriously or fatally injured in work-related accidents or occupational diseases.

December 30th and July 10th. (One month prior to semester start date).

Kittie Moss Fairey Educational Fund Scholarship

Must attend SC college or university. Students should have a combine SAT score of 1800 or an ACT score of 26. Students should have a 3.0 GPA. Family income should not exceed $40,000.

Applications open 9/12/11 and are due 11/21/12.

Three $3,000 scholarships. Based on essay.

Lander University Global Scholars Program

This is a program for Lander students to be able to travel abroad for no additional cost. 20 entering freshmen are eligible for this scholarship. To qualify students should enter Lander as a freshman, have a SAT score of 1300, have a GPA of at least a 3.5, and be in the top 10% of their class.

No application is necessary for the LIFE and HOPE Scholarships.
Palmetto Scholarship:

-LIFE Scholarship: Up to $5,000 each year of college. Student must have a 3.0 GPA and be in the top 30% of their class. Students should also score at least a 1100 on the SAT or 24 on the ACT.

- Palmetto Fellows Scholarship: Students can receive up to $6,700 for the first year and $7,500 for following years. Students must achieve a 1200 on the SAT or 27 on the ACT. Students should also have a 3.5 GPA

-SC HOPE Scholarship-Up to $2,800. Must have a 3.0 GPA and not recipients of the other lottery scholarships.

Mary Ella Ruff Nursing Scholarship

One-time scholarship for students who plan on attending a certified nursing program in the state of SC. Students should express a financial need, demonstrate outstanding clinical nursing skills, have a B-average or better, and exhibit a strong commitment to the field of nursing.

MaxPreps Citizen Athelete

$2,500. For student-athletes who are model citizens and participate on a team covered by MaxPreps.

Ronald McDonald House Charities U.S. Scholarships

There are 4 scholarships offered by the Ronald McDonald House.

Can begin applying online on November 11, 2011. Deadline: January 27, 2012.

Martin Luther King Jr. Mass Choir Scholarship (Greenwood Area)

Application can be found in the Guidance Office

Student must have an 800 on the SAT or a 21 on the ACT, be enrolled in College Preparatory or Tech courses, and at least a 2.8 GPA. A transcript, narrative of 200 words or less, and 3 recommendations will be necessary for this application.



Applicant must be a must be a resident of a participating Mensa region. Piedmont region is “Region 5:293.” Student must also be enrolled at an accredited college or university. An application and essay are required.

Process opens Sept. 15 and closes Jan. 15

Milliken & Company Scholarship

Up to $5,000. Applicant must be a dependent of a full-time Milliken employee. (Employee must have been employed for at least 2-years). Student must plan on attending a 4-year, non-profit college or university.

Miss South Carolina

$10,000 scholarship to Newberry College for the new Miss South Carolina USA and Miss South Carolina Teen USA.


Monsanto Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship

$1,500. Student must be from a farm family with an above average academic record. Student should plan on pursuing agriculture at his or her college or university of choice. Student does not have to be a member of the FFA.

Moore School of Business

Scholarship to the Darla Moore School of Business at USC Columbia campus. Students must have a minimum of a 3.0 with most recipients having a 3.5 GPA or better. Academic merit is the foundation

Available beginning February 7, 2012 and are due by 5:00 p.m. March 1, 2012

NSA (National Security Agency) Stokes Educational Scholars Program

Scholarship is open to high school seniors, particularly minority students who plan to major in computer science or computer/electrical engineering. Must have a 1600 (1100 critical reading and 500 on math) or a 25 on the ACT. Recipients of this scholarship will receive scholarship and will work for the NSA during the summer.

Due November 15th each year.

NIFB Young Entrepreneur Awards

Open to high school seniors going to an accredited, non-profit 2 or 4-year college. Student must be running their own business to be included in this award.


National Co-Op Scholarship Program

$6,000. Must have a 3.5 GPA and plan on attending a WACE Partner Institution. (Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Kettering University, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo, or Wentworth Institute of Technology).


National Merit Scholarship Program

A student’s PSAT score qualifies them for this award. The PSAT is taken during the fall of a student’s sophomore year.

Nominations have already been made for the 2011-2012 and school year.

Schering-Plough “Will to Win” Seniors

$5,000. Scholarship for students with asthma. Students must have a 3.5 GPA to apply for this scholarship.

Sertoma Scholarship

$1,000 scholarship for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Must have at least a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale.


South Carolina Association of Education Office Professionals

Scholarship for students pursuing a business degree preferably in the education area.

January 15th of each year.

South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association Queen Scholarship Contest

The game queen receives $1,000 and the princesses receive $500. Students should have a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Extra-curricular activities, community service, and an essay will all be required.


South Carolina Department of Agriculture Scholarships

There are three scholarships listed on this website: Tribal Scholars Program, USDA National Scholars Program, Hispanic Public Service Leaders Scholarship. The national scholars program requires those students posses at least a 3.0 GPA and have a 1,000 SAT or 21 ACT score. Students are required to attend listed historically black colleges including South Carolina State. Students should plan on studying agriculture, food and natural resource sciences.

$3,200. For students attending the University of South Carolina School of Journalism.

South Carolina Caucus of Black School Board Members Scholarship

$500 for an African American high school senior pursuing higher education.

$500 for a female athlete pursuing education.


South Carolina Coaches Association Medical Scholarship

$1000 for a female athlete pursuing the medical field.


South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation

For students with an interest in golf. Students should have at least a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale and plan on attending a 4-year college or university in the state of South Carolina.


South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers’ Foundation Scholarship.

Scholarships ranging between $1,000-5,000. Transcripts, recommendations, and essay required for this scholarship.

South Carolina State Fair Scholarship Program

Fifty seniors will be awarded $1,500 for up to 4 years. Will be judged on school performance and involvement, extracurricular activities, communication skills, and completed application.




South Carolina Scholastic Press Association

$1,000 scholarship for students who have been accepted to USC’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Students are judged based on their involvement in journalism and academic achievement.




South Carolina Sherriff’s Association Scholarship

$1,000-$2,000 scholarship. Students must plan to attend USC. An essay, recommendations, and transcript are all involved.

South Carolina Society Sons of the American Revolution

Scholarship is not awarded based on academic achievement, but also based on character, citizenship, patriotism, and extra-curricular activities. Students do not have to be related to members of the Sons of Revolution.

South Carolina Tuition Grants Program

Needs-based grant. Students apply for these grants when they submit their application for student aid (FAFSA). Students must graduate in the top 75% of their class or have either a 900 on the SAT or 19 on the ACT. Students must also have at least a 2.0 GPA.

Nickie Moose South Carolina Cheerleader Coaches Association Scholarship

$1,000 for senior cheerleaders with outstanding scholastic achievement. Must have a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Cheerleading coach must be a member of SCCCA.




South Carolina Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities

Application can be found in the Guidance Office

4-year scholarship for any state-supported institution in South Carolina. Students with disabilities are encouraged to write an article to win this scholarship.




Springfield PTO Scholarship

Application can be found in the Guidance Office

$250. Scholarships is for students who attended Springfield Elementary School.

Spirit of Community “Prudential” Scholarship

$1,000 and a trip to Washington DC. This is a program that recognizes students who have been very active in their communities.


SunTrust “Off to College” Sweepstakes

$1,000 scholarship. A winner will be chosen every 2-weeks beginning October 28, 2011 and ending May 11, 2012.

Susan G. Komen Scholarship

$10,000 annually. Scholarship is open to a student who has lost his or her parent to breast cancer. Student must have a 2.8 on a 4.0 scale and express financial need.


Tom Joyner Foundation

Semester at Sea. Students must be enrolled full-time at a historically black college or university. Students must also have a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated leadership, community service, and extracurricular activities.

Toyota Scholarship

2-$2,500 scholarships. Scholarship is open to African American students pursuing engineering or technology disciplines. Students must have a 3.0 GPA, be a current sophomore, junior, or senior NSBE member. Must major in Chemical, Electric, Industrial, Material Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
