Resolution 4: Books, plays and films should be censored.

PROPOSITION (FOR)

OPPOSITION (AGAINST)

  1. Introduction

Nowadays, books, plays and films are unlimited. Everyone is free to choose the topics they like to watch. Today, we will debate whether books, plays and films should be censored. I believe that with a high level of education, viewers can choose to watch. Books, plays and films are not the factors that determines whether a person is good or not.

  1. Present the 1st argument

Our first argument to support the resolution is that censorship is for the general purpose of society, especially for children. This is true because we can't always keep a close eye on children to check what they're watching. If it is not bad content, it can greatly affect the thinking as well as the mental development of children. For example, a Belgian study in 1972 also showed that a group of children who were shown a violent program led to similar behaviors in the movies. Specifically, after showing them a violent movie and then putting it in a large room together, the children who had just watched the violent movie had strong, overwhelming behavior compared to the children who did not. This is very important because children are the future masters of the world, if they are far from themselves the whole world will exist in pain.

  1. Introduction

Censorship of movies, books, and games has been a controversial and heated issue over the years and remains unresolved. Although there are a number of laws in different countries that allow artists to freely express themselves, there are still many people who oppose these laws and feel the need to impose restrictions, as the content created may not be socially appropriate. However, the question is still: Should censorship or not? Today we will discuss this question together. I believe this censorship issue is unnecessary. We will make our position with the following arguments to support our position.

  1. Refute the opponent’s 1st argument

Your team said that censorship is for the general purpose of society, especially for children. That may be true, but I think we can keep kids away from violent content by using kid-video apps like KidYouTube. Because today there are many smart apps that can protect children against bad content online. Furthermore, you can use a password to prevent children from accessing it without your supervision. Therefore, interesting content will still be shown while children cannot access it.

  1. Present the first argument

Our argument to oppose this solution is that captive work causes stress on animal health. This is true because captivity is not always effective, zoos do not provide a natural environment, and zoos place unnecessary stress on animals. Some studies show that passive items have a high mortality rate because they are poorly adapted and lack the necessary skills to survive in the wild. And, interesting gardeners cannot provide space for large or broad animals, like elephants, that are extinct. Partly due to unnatural enclosures, zoo animals are under stress. The animals often get bored and as a result, some become aggressive and may attack other animals or the zookeeper. In a study conducted on 40 chimpanzees at six different zoos, all chimpanzees displayed behaviors that others in the wild did not. So, the natural environment will be very good for the animals.

  1. Refute the opponent’s 1st argument

Your group says that keeping animals in captivity stresses them out. This is probably true but I think zoos help endangered populations by using captive breeding and release. The zoo will provide the best environment for the animals. The AZA Species Survival Plan Program is an example today, a long-term plan that combines conservation breeding, habitat conservation, education, and research to support the survival of the species. species. are threatened and in danger of extinction. Many zoos also undertake local conservation efforts to maintain local wildlife populations. This is essential for the sustainable development of animals.

  1. Present the 2nd argument

Our second argument supporting the resolution is that when censorship laws are relaxed, immoral people are given a license to produce virtually anything in the name of 'art'. This is true because there is an increasing tendency to equate artistic with 'pornographic'. The vast market for pornography would rapidly be exploited. This is important because one of the great things that censorship does is to prevent certain people from making fat profits by corrupting the minds of others.

  1. Refute the opponent’s 2nd argument

Your team said that when censorship laws are relaxed, immoral people are given a license to produce virtually anything in the name of 'art'. That may be true but I think not all filmmakers go in the direction of equating art with 'porn'. Because there are many sensitive images because they want the film to become more attractive to the media, but if they know how to control it, it won't affect viewers much. Moreover, every movie has an age limit. Therefore, excessive censorship is not necessary.

  1. Present the 2nd argument

Our second argument to oppose the resolution is that in fact, censored content also includes some content that people should be aware of. This is true because such content is detrimental to the government. For example, if a government is authoritarian, it will never want its people to see the evil and bad sides of that government. They use censorship to hide and deceive people because they know that when they make such content public, people will no longer support them. This is important because people have the right to know exactly what their government believes in and supports.

  1. Refute the opponent’s view point

Your team said that censored content also includes some content that people should be aware of. That may be true, but I think the content that the government hides can be reactionary content that greatly affects the peace of the country. Because today, there are many hostile and reactionary forces that are always lurking and looking for ways to divide the government from the people. Moreover, if a government is unpopular, it will not last long because there are always elections to help the people choose their government. In addition, people cannot tell if such divisive content is real or fake. If it is fake, spreading this information can cause a country to lose its inherent peace. Therefore, it is absolutely right to censor information related to the government.

  1. Present the 3rd argument

Our second argument to support this resolution is that film censorship reduces the download of bad images and is more appropriate for all ages. This is true because we can comfortably choose a movie to watch in public without having to be annoyed when the movie has hot or violent scenes. Kids will have the right programs to watch and their parents won't have to worry about they'll be watching depraved things. Or in adolescence, the situation of learning to imitate movies and causing social evils will be reduced. This shows how important censorship is.

  1. Refute the opponent’s 3rd argument

Your group says that censorship can reduce the load of evils and is appropriate for all ages. This is probably true but I disagree because removing censorship will help more developed countries like South Korea, the US, and other developed countries have removed censorship. They just set up a committee to classify movies suitable for different ages. In fact, Korean cinema has made great progress when removing film censorship. Cinema, like another work of art, is a reflection and criticism of society. Already a voice of social criticism, there is a need for freedom. Criticism is valuable to help better society, so in developed countries, most cultures are free to create. Film censorship is not right, it makes the movie market become a market for producing safe, low-color films. Therefore, it is difficult to make a colorful, breakthrough, and international work.

  1. Present the 3rd argument

Our third argument against the resolution is that books, plays, and especially films invested a huge amount of money in creation. Because if it is not released, it will bring a lot of loss to the producer. For example, “The Noon” movie was censored and cut at the end, confusing the audience, so it didn’t attract many audiences, leading to a decrease in revenue. Therefore, there will be no more attractive scenes that viewers are waiting for.

  1. Refute the opponent’s 3rd viewpoint.

Your team said that books, plays, and especially films invested a huge amount of money in creation. That may be true but I think if they anticipate the risks they will encounter, why not identify and learn from the beginning before doing it. Because losing a large amount of money is obvious they have to bear for all their bad decisions. Therefore, they should draw their own experience when releasing any movie so as not to make the same mistake that makes them lose money.

  1. Make conclusion

In conclusion, censorship is for the good of society as a whole. Like the law, censorship contributes to the common good.

  1. Make conclusion

In summary, keeping a pet is very complicated and also brings some negative effects, such as infection, injury from bites, etc. Therefore, we should not keep pets to ensure optimal health for our family.
