  • Improving the quality of teaching through effective teacher performance appraisal, learning and evaluation. As such, the personality component of the faculty plays a greater role. So IQAC has insisted to prepare “Teaching Plan” and “Unit Plan” for effective teaching.

  • Strengthening the ‘Community Extension Activities’ so that college establishes still better links with the community. The college has a plan to adopt a village for its all round development.

  • Improving the quality of “Students Redressal Cell” so that it may yield better result in the improvement of the quality of the students.

  • Introducing enriching activities for the students so as to enable them to acquire competence, skills in the areas beyond those covered in the curriculum to help the students in finding employment.

  • Cultivating research environment among the faculty members and students.


  • Implementation of ‘Unit plan’ and ‘Teaching Plan’ lead to effective teacher performance and in establishing healthy and academic relation with students.

  • The college has succeeded in maintaining healthy relation with the community through its extension activities.

  • There is an improvement in the competitive skills acquired by the students which helped them to get better employment.

  • Many students and faculty members participated in state and national level seminars and presented research papers.

    1. The college is providing value based education to 334 students of which 117 are girls. The result of BA final year was 81 Percent. 25 students got distinction and 09 first class. Similarly, the result of the Bcom final year was 87 Percent. Nine students got distinction and seven first class.

    1. H.H.Sri Jagadguru Dr.Annadanishwar Mahashivayogigalu Samsthanmath Mundargi, the permanent president of SJAV Samiti is the moral spirit of our college. He is kind enough to start hostel for SC/ST students and free hostel for other category students where more than 300 students are given accommodation and prasada.

    1. The Students Union was inaugurated on 27.6.2009. Dr.K Rudrappa from ADB college Harapanhalli was the chief guest and he spoke on the need for value based education and also appreciated the efforts made by the college in this direction. Chairman of the Local Governing Body Dr.Y.S. Meti presided over the function, His Holiness Dr.Annadanishwar Mahashivayogigalu samstanmath Mundargi graced the occasion.


The college has a rich heritage of organizing National and State Level Seminars. The Department of Kannada and ‘Karnataka Sangha’ of the college jointly organized a national level seminar on “Kannada; a classical language; What next?” on 27.4.2010. The main objective of the seminar was to provide a platform to the students and staff to expose themselves to the new ideas. The seminar was organized with the UGC financial support and blessed by H.H. Sri Jagadguru Dr.Annadanishwr Mahashivayogigalu Samsthan math Mundargi.

The First Technical Session was chaired by Dr.Giraddi Govindaraj and two main selected papers were presented by Dr.Mrutyanjaya Rumale and Prof. K.M. Srinivasmurthy.
The Second Session was chaired by Dr.Shankargoud Biradar from Akkalkoti. The main speakers were Prin.Allamprabhu Bettadur from Koppal and Dr.K. Ravindranath from ‘Hampi Kannada University’. Nearly 62 delegates from different parts of the country and 42 students participated in the seminar. The college is bringing the collection of all selected articles in the form of book.

      1. Under the joint auspicious of Commerce Association and the Department of Economics two day National seminar on “Human Rights” was organized on 13th and 14th October 2009. H. H Sri Jagadguru Dr. Annadanishwara Mahashivayogigalu Samsthanmath Mundargi inaugurated the seminar. The Registrar of Karnataka State Law University Prof. Mushannavar, Dr.Sadhana Pole from Belgaum, Dr.Suresh Babu Suggamad, Prof. Mahalinga yalagi, Sri G.S.Mahagaonkar from Bangalore, sri S.G.Patil, President of consumer’s court,Gadag and sri Mahantesh Shigli, public prosecutor Gadag were the resource persons.

The founder president of our college H.H. Sri. Jagadguru Dr. Annadaneshewar Mahashivayogigalu Samstanmath Mundargi is a great scholar and champion of Human Rights. His famous book ‘Veershaiva culture and Human Rights’ is the great contribution to the knowledge of Human Rights and the seminar had a special technical session on the book. Nearly 124 delegates including students participated in the seminar and the college has published all the selected research papers in the form of book. Students expressed the opinion that the seminar created an academic platform to the students to expose their ideas. This seminar brought courage and leadership qualities among students.

      1. UGC funded State Level Seminar on “Evaluation of Teachers by the Students; an overview” was organized by the Department of sociology and political science on 28.4.2010. The seminar was inaugurated by H. H Sri Jagadguru Dr. Annadanishwara Mahashivayogigalu Samsthanmath Mundargi. Prof. K. R. Narashimhan Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Dr. M. R. Chandvarkar, Dr. Y.M.Jayaraj, Dr. Ravi Korishettar, Dr. P.A.Somashekar, Dr.B.Mallikarjun, Dr.D.B. Gavai were the resource persons. Prof. Shantamurthy and Prof. S.M.Kammar were the reporters.

1.4.3 Speech Competitions

45th A.D.Sharoff Memorial Speech competition was organized in the college on 5.10.2009.Sri D.Y.Kavalur, Miss A.Y.Gouder and Miss S.M.Hori got first, second and third prize respectively.
1.4.4 500th “Crowning Ceremony” of Srikrishnadeveraya was celebrated in the college by organizing speech competition

1.4.5 As essay competition on “Population Stability” was organized by the Taluka Health Unit on 11.3.2010 was represented by our students. Sri S.Y.Akkasali got second prize.

    1. Cultural Association

The festival of Ganesh was celebrated on 24.8.2009in which various cultural Programs were organized and the students participated actively. Rangoli competition was organized for girls.

    1. Ladies Association

A special program on ‘Women Empowerment’ was organized on 12.4.2010 in which Dr.Shailaja Pawadshettar spoke on the topic of Women empowerment. Our college girls participated actively during the interaction session.

    1. The Department of Hindi, has organized various programs for the students to sharpen their IQ. A special program on ‘Quiz and Essay Competition were conducted on 11.3.2010

    1. Planning Forum

The planning forum and social science association of the college jointly conducted a ‘socio economic survey” of the byalwadgi village on 8.11.2011.

A special program on ‘Budget’ was organized of 3.2.2010 The manger of

SBI gave detailed information regarding the budget to our students.

    1. The Department of political science organized a special lecture on constitution and parliamentary affairs.” Prof G.B.Sheelwantar was the resource person. Another special program on “Free interaction with advocates on legal issues” was organized on 24.6.2010. Sri M.R. wodeyer, Civil Judge of Mundargi inaugurated the function.

1.10 SC / ST Cell
A special program on “Govt-facilities to SC/ ST Students” was conducted by the Cell on 19.9.2009. Sri Manjunath, Social Welfare Officer of Mundargi taluka was the resource person.

    1. Red Cross Unit

An awareness program on deadly dieses was arranged by the Red Cross unit on 19.9.2009. The unit also collected Rs.15000/- from the general public on 8.9.2009 for the benefit of flood affected people in the taluka. The president of our Vidya Samiti H. H Sri Jagadguru Dr. Annadanishwara Mahashivayogigalu participated in ‘Jatha’ to collect donations. ‘Swami Vivekananda Jayanti’ to inculcate moral values among the students was celebrated on 12.1.2010. And a rally on “Anti Terrorism” was organized on 3.2.2010 followed by special lecturer by the heads of different religions was arranged.

1.12 N.C.C.

The NCC unit of college implemented the programs on literary Champaign pulse polio, Aids awareness. Our cadets along with NCC officer participated in the special training at Kohima Nagaland. ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate examination were conducted for cadets.

1.13 NSS

The unit has 100 volunteers including 20 lady volunteers. A special camp was organized at the adopted village Byalvadagi. on 4.11.2009 to 13.11.2009 Blood donation, tree plantation, road making, health checkup, were the highlights of the camp. Sri G.M. Policepatil got selected for R.D parade training camp. Three volunteers were participated in the ‘legal literacy campaign’ held at Gadag.

1.14 Placement Cell

The Training and Placement Cell of the college trained 21 students and sent them to participate ‘Job mela’ organized by Wipro Company at Gadag.

A campus interview was organized by the “Avalon Aviation Academy” in our college and two students were selected. Vidya Poshak Dharwad gave matching grant to five students in our college and Rs 7500/- was given by H. H Sri Jagadguru Dr. Annadanishwara Mahashivayogigalu Samsthan math Mundargi.
1.15 Students Participation in Research
12 students participated in National and State Level Seminars and presented their research article. Each department is actively involved in preparing the students in research activities through conducting field surveys in their respective areas. Each department has conducted two such surveys in an academic year.

    1. Research activities by the faculty members

Members of the faculty are also involved in many research activities. One major research project funded by UGC is about to complete. Three minor research project funded by UGC are in progress. One faculty member presented research article in the International Seminar and seven faculty members presented research papers in 16 National Level Seminars and five State Level Seminars.

    1. Sports

Miss Shruti Mugangoudar selected for KUD women Kabaddi team and participated in the inter university Kabaddi tournament held at Mumbai. She also bagged first place in women wrestling conduced by K. U. Dharwad.
The college Ten quite team bagged second place in K. U. Dharwad single zone Ten quite tournament.
2. New Academic Programmes s Initiated

The college has started Diploma in Soft Skill course to our students, and it recognized by the Karnataka University Dharwad.

The college got the permission to start P.G. in Economics during this year.

  1. Innovations in Curricular design and transaction

The college is coming under affiliating system and do not have freedom to alter the given curriculum but has adopted certain practices which are complimentary to the curriculum

  • Conducting field survey’s by each Department in the college in thier

respective subjects.

  • Inviting experts from different colleges and arranging special lectures.

  • The college believes in the harmonious development of the ‘Hand, Heart and Head’, which enriches the personality of students. Life training and character building education is offered though several activities throughout the year. Right from the inception of the college, value based education formed education formed as essential as curriculum.

3.1 Every faculty member tells regarding the moral values and their significance in shaping the future of the students. Each faculty member spends five minutes for such teaching in the class.

3.2 College has arranged lectures on ‘Moral values and Value based Education’ by religious heads of the area.

3.3 This practice has enabled the students to face problems and solve problems not only for the benefit of themselves but also for in the posterity of fellow beings. Every student of the college respects the teachers and their elders.

    1. Conducting Seminars

The college has the practice of conducting tutorials and seminars in a formal way. The seminars by the students develop the thinking power and communication skills. The faculty members conducts seminar in their respective classes. The subject of the seminar is given to the students well in advance and it is related to their syllabi.

The students present seminar paper in the class, followed by open discussion. This practice has given scope to expose them selves regarding their subject and also helped in the overall personality development.

    1. Regrouping the courses to provide new subject combination

The subject combination is made by the affiliating university itself, but the college has the freedom in rearranging the subject combinations to accommodate student’s choice. Students may not like some subjects which are forced on them due to the prevalent subject combinations and this year also 12 combinations were given to student’s choice.

  1. Examination Reforms Implemented

5.1 One of the major component of our education system is examination. As a part of our examination reforms, a time scheduled and transparent internal assessment system has been introduced.

5.2 For evaluating student’s performance, the lecture method, written test, home assignments, periodical quiz, seminars or any other assignment that lecturer considers it necessary for assessing the student’s performance are taken into consideration.
5.3 The distribution of marks (20 for each semester) to various components of assessment will be decided by the concerned Department and will be announced in the class room.
5.4 Regarding the attendance of the students in the class, the concerned lecturer will announce that minimum 80% of attendance is necessary and below which the students will not be allowed to appear for final examination.

    1. The continuous assessment of students through internal assessment encouraged them to work systematically throughout the semester and abilities that are not tested otherwise could be tested. The students have expressed their happiness over the internal assessment system.

  1. Candidate qualified NET/SLET/GATE

Since member of the faculty have been appointed before UGC has laid down rules for the appointment of college teachers. Hence the question of NET/SLET/GATE does not arise and no faculty member appointed after UGC has imposed these prescribed qualifications.

The college has organized two National Level Seminars and One State Level Seminar during the academic year.

7.1 National Level Seminar on “Kannada as a classical language; what next ?” –27-4-2010

    1. National Seminar on ‘Human Rights’ 13-14-Oct 2009

The Department of Economics and Commerce jointly organized two day National Level seminar on ‘Human Rights’ The seminar aims at addressing a wide range of issues related to human rights and thereby create awareness among teaching and students community. UGC gave financial support to the seminar and inaugurated by H.H Sri Jagadguru Annadaneshwar Mahashivayagalu sammstan math Mundargi.

H.H. Sri Jagadguru Dr. Annadaneshwar MahaShivayogigalu Smasthan math Mundargi assumes a prominent place in the Kannada literacy field. He has written more than 100 books covering religion, human rights, Poems, Vachanas etc. He is a great Philosopher in applying Veershaiva Philosophy to human rights. So this special session was dedicated to discuss “Contributions of Sri Sannidhi to Human Rights”. 38 papers were presented in the seminar by students and teachers and 124 delegates participated in the seminar. The Department has published all the selected papers in the form of book.

    1. State Level Seminar on “Performance Appraisal of college faculty by the students: an overview” 28.4.2010

UGC funded State Level Seminar on: Performance Appraisal of college faculty by the students: an over view” was organized by the Department of Sociology, Forum of Social Science and SJAV Samithi Mundargi. The seminar was inaugurated by H.H. Jagadguru Dr. Annadaneshwar Mahashivayogigalu Smasthanmath Mundargi. Dr K.R.Narasimhan, Joint Director of collegiate Education gave inaugural address. Dr.(Smt) M.R.Chandavarkar gave keynote address and presided by Dr. Y.M. Jayaraj.

13. Citation Index of the faculty members & impact factor
An excellent teacher has to be a good researcher also. The enhancement and substance of quality education mainly depends upon the contributions of faculty members of the college. Accordingly the citation index reveals the positive character of our teaching faculty.
13.1 History of Human Rights:

The concept of human rights started by Greek Philosophers in their speeches and dramas. They stressed the need for man’s natural rights which are fundamental in character. Even ‘Vedas’ in India also explains human rights. It is after the several discussions in UN General Assembly referred the matter to prepare an International Bill of Rights in respect of human rights as provided in the UN character to Economic Social council. The commission established three working groups to prepare comprehensive draft on human rights and forwarded the report to the Govts for their opinion. The council submitted to the General Assembly on Dec.10th 1948. The same day the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the UN Assembly.
13.2 Micro Finance & woman empowerment in Karnataka

Micro credit is making a significant contribution to both the savings and borrowings of the poor. The study revels that rural women have successfully demonstrated how to mobilize and manage thrift, appraise credit needs and enforce financial discipline. As the study intend to know the performance of ‘Shtree Shakti’ SHG and NGO led SHG. Performance is better than Shtree Shaktti as NGO Officials take personal interest in managing and maintaining the SHG’s.
