The Joan M. Behrens Scholarship was created by Harlan “Barney” Behrens, AU ’51, in memory of his wife, Joan Marie Behrens, nee Haines, AU ’52. Their shared goal: helping students succeed, fulfill their potential and have a positive impact on the world. Joan inspired many with her unquenchable appetite for knowledge, her creativity, wit, compassion and tenacity. A voracious reader and literacy advocate, she championed lifelong learning.
