Pharmaceutical Sciences (MSc)
The information presented here concerns the structure of the MSc programme in Pharmaceutical Sciences/Pharmacochemistry and detailed course information.
More detailed and general information about the master programme - for instance the master coordinator, schedules, etcetera - can be found at the faculty's website.
Master programme
During the Master's in Pharmaceutical Sciences students can specialize themselves by doing a Major in one of the following disciplines:
- Drug Discovery and Target Finding (Molecular Pharmacology)
- Drug Disposition and Safety Assessment (Molecular Toxicology)
- Computational Medicinal Chemistry and Toxicology
- Drug Design and Synthesis
- Biomolecular Drug Analysis
- Biomolecular Sciences
Each of these specializations consist of compulsory introductory and advanced courses, a research training, and colloquium/literature thesis.
Further information on the research groups participating in this track program can be found on the faculty's website.

Society oriented variant for natural and life sciences
Due to the growing complexity of technological and medical issues and the interaction with society, organisations working in this sector have a growing and urgent need for academic professionals in
the natural and life sciences, who have knowledge of policy management and entrepreneurship. The variant offers students with a bachelor degree in the natural and life sciences the chance to combine a specialization in this field with a specialization in research, communication or education.
This variant is coördinated by dr. M.B.M. Zweekhorst. Address: Faculty of Earth and Life Sciences, Dept. Biology and Society, De Boelelaan 1087, room A-062, phone: +31 (0) 20 598 7033, e-mail marjolein.zweekhorst@falw.vu.nl.
The course language is English, unless all students participating in the course speak Dutch, the course language will be Dutch.
