Question: Adrenaline can make people make an ordinary person do extraordinary things. What are the causes of an ‘adrenaline rush’ and the effects? Use specific details and examples to support your answer.

An adrenaline rush is a surge of strength and energy brought upon by a dangerous situation, by, or as if by, adrenaline. (NAVER English dictionary 2010). Also it means a positive mind feeling that we can strive through everything. There are many causes of an adrenaline rush. In living in a tough world, an adrenaline rush is essential for modern people.

The first cause of an adrenaline rush is “life-threatening situations.” It is in fact the most natural cause. For example in primitive times, when people were chased by a wild beast, the human body released the adrenaline and made the people run faster than they usually could. It gave them an extraordinary speed to survive from the beast. These days, all students or office workers experience an adrenaline rush when they have something that is due the next day, but they are still not done with it yet, and the adrenaline rush gives them the urge and strength to finish the task. They do not sleep until they finish their work because losing their job or not being able to graduate from school is related to their life. In general, people experience an adrenaline rush when they are in emergency or tough situations.

The second cause of an adrenaline rush is the overconsumption of sugar. This is especially true for children or someone who is sensitive to sugar. When they eat too many sweet things, then their body produces too much adrenaline. The proper amount of sugar makes us feel better and gives us enough power to concentrate on what we are doing, but too much sugar and adrenaline rush can make us sluggish and lethargic. In conclusion, in human life, there are many ways to experience an adrenaline rush. This kind of rush can be used by people who are in tough situations or in a hurry. However, the effects of an adrenaline rush can also be negative. Because of it, we may experience real danger. Shaking hands, rapid heartbeat, feel anxiety and panic attacks are just some of the effects of an adrenaline rush. The reason for the occurrence of an adrenaline rush is that it serves as a defense mechanism. When we feel stress and fear, our body makes us do extraordinary things to protect our body. (ehow contributor) However, after the adrenaline rush, we may feel tired immediately, and it may cause our health to go bad. Therefore, we must always try to keep our body strong and healthy and must not rely on the sudden surge of energy brought upon by an adrenaline rush.
