As we make our way toward the end of the year, it is time to look back at the first year of high school and reflect upon it. You will write an essay that helps you define your first year in high school: where you have been and where you think you will be going.

Paragraph 1

Think back to the 8th grade and remember what your expectations of high school were. What did you think high school would be like? Greatest hopes and greatest fears? What led you to choose Eisenhower? (50-75 words)

Paragraph 2

First reactions to high school? Describe your attitude, experiences, and reactions to Eisenhower. Think back to the first few weeks of this school year. Homecoming? Pep Assemblies? Sports? Clubs? (50-75 words)

Paragraph 3

Select a moment from your first year that you remember (stands out) and describe it. Explain why it is memorable/significant. (40-50 words)

Paragraph 4

Talk about a class(es) you have taken. Easy/hard/difficult? Why? Enjoyable? Why? What level of studying have you done this year? (40-50 words)

Paragraph 5

Explain how you feel you fit in/fit out at Ike? How many and what kind of friends do you have?

(40-50 words)

Paragraph 6

Evaluate your year (on a scale of 1-10, 1 being lowest, 10 being highest); rate your year and give 3-4 reasons for your rating. (50-75 words)

Paragraph 7

Write about your expectations for your sophomore year and for the rest of your high school years. (50-75 words)
