  • Currently working as Chief Commissioner, Central Excise & Service Tax, Ranchi Zone, Patna w.e.f. 21.08.2015 & Chief Commissioner of Customs (Preventive) Patna Zone, Patna w.e.f. 01.12.2015 & Chief Commissioner of Central Excise & Service Tax Lucknow Zone, Lucknow w.e.f. 31.03.2016; having jurisdiction over the states of U.P., Uttarakhand, Bihar & Jharkhand.




  • The post of Chief Commissioner of Central Excise & Service Tax, Ranchi Zone, Patna involves leadership of about 2000 personnel comprising of about 60 IRS officers including 7 Commissioners. The Total revenue realized in Zone from Central Excise & Service Tax is approx Rs. 17,000 Crores and Rs. 2000 Crores respectively. Major revenue paying assessee are IOC, TATA, ITC, SAIL, CCL.

Main work is controlling Trade & Commerce on the border and anti-smuggling operation on Border.

  • Administration of entire three Zones, is being run on PATH (Professional Accountable Transparent Honest) Model of Leadership and Governance, which has been successfully executed on thousand of Civil Servants, ensuring corruption free and competent Tax administration.

  • Worked as Principal Commissioner of Central Excise & Service Tax, Patna w.e.f. 21.08.2015 till date. Revenue realized in Comm’te from Central Excise & Service Tax is approx Rs. 8500 Crores and Rs. 750 Crores respectively. Major revenue paying assesses are IOC, ITC, Bihar Cement, Coca Cola, SIS Ltd., BSNL, Idea Cellular.

  • Worked as Commissioner (Appeals) of Central Excise, Service Tax & Customs, New Delhi (From August, 2014 to August 2015) discharging judicial powers over taxation disputes between Trade/Industry and the Revenue Department.




  • Worked as Commissioner of Customs & Central Excise, Delhi IV, Faridabad having jurisdiction over two districts of Haryana i.e. Faridabad and Palwal since 04.06.12 till August, 2014. The assignment involves motivational leadership of about 300 personnel of the department, comprising 12 Group A, 66 Group B, 200 Group C and 25 Group D officers. Central Excise and Customs revenue realized annually from the trade and industry of Faridabad Commissionerate is to the tune of approx. Rs. 2000 crores. The work requires proactive human resource leadership of approx. 300 personnel of the department, motivating and guiding the personnel to ensure new PATH (Professional, Accountable, Transparent, Honest), ethics of work and conduct, free from corruption, harassment, and complaints. Following major industries are administered and regulated for tax collection: JCB India Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Goodyear India Ltd., Orient Fan, Adani Gas Ltd, Starwire India Ltd., India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd., New Allenberry Works, Veer Hues Ltd., BCH Electric Ltd., Mothorson Sumi Systems, Hyderabad Indistries Ltd., Escorts India Ltd etc.




  • Worked as Commissioner of Customs,Central Excise, Service Tax (Joint CDR), CESTAT, New Delhi w.e.f. 14 May’2010 to 4th June 2012, representing major cases of revenue before CESTAT.




  • Worked as Commissioner of Customs & Central Excise, Lucknow, having jurisdiction over districts of Uttar Pradesh viz. Lucknow, Barabanki, Sitapur, Lakhimpur, Hardoi, Shahhjahanpur, Raebareli, Sultanpur, Fatehpur, Aligarh, Mathura, Etah, Mainpuri since May, 2007 to May, 2009. The work requires proactive human resource leadership of approx. 325 personnel of the department, motivating and guiding the personnel to ensure new PATH (Professional, Accountable, Transparent, Honest), ethics of work and conduct, free from corruption, harassment, and complaints. Following major industries are administered and regulated for tax collection: Telco, Reliance Industries, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., BHEL, Heinz India Ltd., Scooters India Ltd. Etc.




  • One year’s (May’2009 – May’2010) experience as Commissioner (Appeals) of Central Excise, Service Tax & Customs, Lucknow discharging judicial powers over taxation disputes between Trade/Industry and the Revenue Department.




  • One year's (July 2006 - May 2007) experience of work as Commissioner of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax, Goa having jurisdiction over functioning of Customs, Central Excise, Service Tax and Narcotics department over the entire State of Goa . The assignment involved motivational leadership of about 500 personnel of the department, comprising 12 Group A, 103 Group B, 216 Group C and 145 Group D officers. Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax revenue realized annually from the trade and industry of Goa was to the tune of approx. Rs. 1550 crores. During this period following major industries were administered and regulated for tax collection. Major Central Excise revenue paying units of Goa were M/s Betts India Ltd.; Dr. Reddy’s Lab; M/s M.R.F. Ltd.; M/s Hindustan Lever; M/s Sesa Industries; Aprant Iron & Steel; Cipla Ltd.; M/s Nestle Ltd.; M/s Advance Oral Care; M/s Professional Oral Products; M/s Kodak (I) Ltd. and M/s Wyeth Ltd. Major Customs revenue paying units of Goa were Kodak (I) Ltd.; D-Link; Zuari Industries; Computer Graphics; Syngenta(I); Hindustan Lever; Nestle(I); I.F.B. Industries; Zenith Computers and Phil Corporation. Major Service Tax revenue paying assessees of Goa were Marmagoa Port Trust; BSNL; Zuari; Sesa Goa; Hyatt Park Hotel, etc.




  • About one and half year’s (November 2004 - June 2006) experience as Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise (Appeals), Goa discharging judicial powers over taxation disputes between Trade/Industry and the Revenue Department.

  • Experience of legal representation of revenue cases before Customs, Excise and Gold Control Appellate Tribunal (CEGAT), New Delhi, as Senior Departmental Representative from Oct. 1999-May 2001. Experience of 2 years work as Joint Director (Inspections), New Delhi from May 2001 – May 2003.




  • About Four years’ experience as Assistant Commissioner of Customs, IGI Airport, New Delhi, (Jan 1991-June 1994), particularly in the area of the Customs Clearance of International passengers and baggage from all across the world, as well as expertise in carrying out anti-smuggling operations.

As a part of 125th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, an annual Gandhi Peace Prize was instituted by the Government of India in 1995. Organised the work relating to Code of Procedure, Plaque and Citation, meetings of Jury headed by the Prime Minister and special function to award first Gandhi Peace Prize to Dr. Julius Nyerere in January 1996.


50th ANNIVERSARY OF INDIA ’S INDEPENDENCE :

Actively associated with setting up of the Secretariat for 50th Anniversary of India’s Independence, as part of the Department of Culture, participated in organizing the 1st Meeting of National Committee set up for the purpose, held in December 1996; and coordination of working relating to functioning of the Secretariat.
