Clear Learning Objective (Understand)


Students will do the AP persuasive essay that did not get done last week for lack of attendance.

Students will do the AP audio comprehension selection on page 96.

Students will analyze the elements of a complaint letter and do reading comprehension exercises.

Students will turn in their papers and do the AP simulated conversation on page 99.

Students will share their asnwers for a translation and discuss alternative solutions.

Teaching/ Modeling/ Demonstrating


Teacher will allow students to use their notes for an ideal persuasive essay.

Teacher will first help with a few difficult technical terms.

Teacher will provide the text. (1)

Teacher will remind students of the “plan B” responses and the items AP readers like to hear in this exercise.




Guided Practice


Students will write their essays individually.

Teacher will play the audio source.

Students will do the exercises individually, then share.

Students will write their responses, then say them aloud.




Checks for Understanding


Students will turn in their papers; no feedback till graded.

Teacher will give answer key and discuss the wrong answers. The audio will be played again as we read the script to learn vocabulary.

We will go through the answers collectively.

Teacher will give individual and collective feedback.

Teacher will correct wrong answers and explain why if needed.

Homework/ Upcoming Assessments

Write five 2nd type conditional sentences.

No homework.

Question 9 in the questionnaire: writing of a similar paper. Due tomorrow.

A traslation (handed out).

No homework for the weekend.
