After practicing this unit, students can:

When we are going to make a question, there are three ways that we can do :

  1. Put the modal (will,would, can ,could, shall, must, have,has) in front of the Subject.

  2. Put be ( is,am,are,was,were) in front of the Subject.

  3. Put do, does, did in front of the Subject.

Examples :

    • Are you a student ?

    • Do you love me ?

    • Have you returned my dictionary ?

        1. Pronominal Question (WH- Question )

Pronominal Question is a question that is started by using question words of who, what, when,where, why, and how.

Tag Question is a question form that is added at the end of a statement or command. It is used for confirm, or to ask for clarification on the preceding statement.

Rule for making a Question Tag :



  • When the statement is in positive, the tag should be in negative.

  • When the statement is in negative, the tag should be in positive.

The formula : AUXILIARY + SUBJECT

Auxiliaries are :



  • To be ( is,am, are, was,were )

  • Modals ( can, could, may, might,shall,will, would,should )
