Sensible Shopping

These days it’s easy to go to the supermarket and buy lots of cheap food. Afterwards most people just throw the packaging in their bins and forget about it. However, this waste doesn’t just disappear. In fact, this consumer behaviour is causing large amounts of rubbish that damages the environment. So how can you reduce your waste and protect the planet?

One solution is to be a responsible shopper by using reusable bags and avoiding individually wrapped items. Such products are covered in unnecessary packaging which isn’t eco-friendly at all. Instead, think about buying loose fruit and vegetables and use your own bags to carry them.

Another thing you can do is to start recycling. For example, see if there is a recycling point at your local supermarket or school and take your cans, glass bottles and types of recyclable plastic there. This way, instead of being thrown away they can be made into new products for people to use!

These are just two ways that you can help. If everyone thought about their shopping habits and ways to recycle, then it would make a big difference to the world around us.
