Judges encourage creativity of expression, but the essay must clearly deliver information and facts describing what the team is all about. The essay should draw attention to the strengths of the team. This essay, along with other information, will serve as the basis for the judges to make the decision on which team earns the Chairman's Award.




  1. Briefly describe the impact of the FIRST program on team participants with special emphasis on the current season and the preceding 2-5 years.

Team 1561, the RoboDucks travel around the district teaching middle schools about benefits of STEM and FIRST while they are attending the academy. Summer Quest is an engaging program that draws middle schoolers to our academy for a week in June. They enroll in STEM-based classes and practice robotics on different levels. Their parents are then invited to the academy where their children showcase the robots they have created and show the joy robotics brings to them.

Describe the team's initiatives to help start or form other FIRST teams (including Jr.FLL, FLL, & FTC) After the outreach at Crossings elementary school, Name of lady approached Mentor Bryan Kitzrow for help (inquiries) Crossings team “Robo Knights”, Need details from Mr. Kitzrow how we initially contacted Northridge team “The Northridge Knights”, started by Mrs. Kitzrow for home school students team made up of co-op educators and their children “TWACA”

Team 2382, Gears of Radiation, is a FRC team in Colbert, Oklahoma. This area of Oklahoma has few to no business and sources of donations and/or grants is scarce  This team was in need of money to pay for the FIRST program. We, Team 1561 The RoboDucks, held and payed all the expenses for a 5 mile marathon to raise money for Team 2382. We paid a total of $1,600 to hold the 5k, and all the money raised was donated, totalling $777.

Describe how your team works with other FIRST teams to serve as mentors to younger or less experienced FIRST teams (includes Jr.FLL, FLL, FTC, & FRC teams)  A PEA student helped his younger sister’s team. He was awarded a 2012-2013 Championship Youth Mentor Award. He helped Northridge Elementary School.

  1. Describe your Corporate/University Sponsors OSU has unique scholarships for just FIRST Robotics students. (, Boeing (People working together as a global enterprise as an aerospace industry leadership → grant providers & mentor providers, Tinker, the local air force base, is very involved with the community as sponsors and mentors. Tinker sponsored 47 FRC teams this year, totally to $94,000. Utley and Associates is also a sponsor, and also send mentors.

Describe the strength of your partnership with your sponsors with special emphasis on the 2014/2015 year and the preceding two to five years (Boeing and Tinker send mentors for FIRST robotics, our engineering functions, some of the mentors come to our Women & Technology, and our engineering challenges. Herman Meinders donates $1,000 dollars a year and attends our fundraiser and chili cook-off.
