Topic: The Similarities and Disparities of Technology Usage in Middle School Age Children.

Research Question: Are programs like Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) effective in middle schools or is it a distraction for school aged students?

What is the necessary background information?

What role does Bring Your Own Device play in student development?

How has the use of devices in schools enhanced or decreased student performance in the past 5 years?

What are different things can teachers do in the classroom with BYOD as a tool?

Your Final Product:

You will create a presentation explaining and displaying the findings of your study. You can use PowerPoint presentation program, you can choose to write a two-page paper in MLA format or use a trifold presentation board as an alternative to the slideshow presentation. See the attached rubric for grading. You will be graded on how well you prove your answer to the research question.

If you are completing a slideshow presentation

If you are writing a paper:

  • It must be at least 2 full pages, typed

  • It must be doubled space

  • It must be written in Times New Roman,

  • It must be 12-point font.

If you are making a tri-fold:

  • Your three points supporting your thesis statement must be clearly displayed

  • Your conclusion should be displayed.

If you plan to do a tri-fold or PowerPoint, I will be looking for creativity in the production and presentation of the project.

No matter what form you choose as your final product, it must have a thesis statement, you must use at least 3 sources when doing your project, you can use the 7 I have given you, or you can research and find other sources. However, if you find other sources, these sources must be approved by me before you use them. It must have a Works Cited page, it must have a conclusion, it must be logically organized, it must be grammatically sound, and it must meet all the requirements set forth by the rubric.

Your final product is due NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, December 7, 2015. Most of the work for this project will be done in class,
