Thematic Essay – Writing Your Essay’s Conclusion After writing your essay’s introduction and literary analysis paragraphs, you are left with one final task: a conclusion. For this essay, all you’ll need to do is answer the last question of the prompt:
What is the author trying to say about the human condition? As usual, there are a couple steps I’d like you to take as you write your conclusion:
STEP 1: Review your theme. The theme that you have analyzed is based on how you understand the author’s essential truth. With that in mind, answer the following questions.
STEP 2:Why is it important for humanity to understand the theme of your essay? If you remember from Friday, my theme was: “Real love is realized when one is mature enough to let it grow naturally.”
There is no greater force in the world than love. With love, all is possible, all is optimistic. When we act without love, we hurt those around us. We are not born with this embedded into our genes, it takes time to learn and appreciate. Once we do, the keys to the hearts of those around us open and that, to put it mildly, is a wonderful thing. The importance of “The Chaser” lies is showing us how wrong it is to force someone we love into doing something that is contrary to their own will. Over time, we all will grow, emotionally and spiritually, and hopefully come to realize that we as mature, experienced beings, know how to love each other. Assignment:
Follow the above steps to write your conclusion. You should have a rough draft of all the parts to your essay project done prior to coming to class for ELP. We will meet in class first, then make our way to the lab.
