**Pre-Algebra June12 to June 16, 2017 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM**
This workshop will introduce the students to basic mathematical skills and become more confident in their ability to solve fractions, percent and decimals through daily practice, skill challenges, and homework. At course conclusion, students will be able to comprehend and perform the basic underlying pre-requisite operations needed to undertake first year high school algebra successfully.
**Algebra June 19 to June 30, 2017 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM**
This workshop will introduce students to some of the basic topics in Algebra. At course conclusion, students will have sufficient background to undertake the study of introductory, intermediate and advanced Algebra.
**Geometry June 5 to June 16, 2017 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM**
Strongly Recommend a passing grade of C or above in Beginning Algebra (Algebra I)
This intensive workshop summarizes the basic topics and skills required to be successful in a high school geometry class. Topics include classification of shapes, angle relationships, triangle properties, basic proofs, polygons, and more. Homework is assigned daily to provide an opportunity for students to practice the skills they learned in class.
**Advanced Algebra** **Prep July 10 to July 21, 2017 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM**
Strongly recommend a passing grade of C or above in Beginning Algebra (Algebra I)
This intensive workshop summarizes the basic topics and skills required to be successful in high school Advanced Algebra (Algebra II) class. The workshop covers: solving basic equations, inequalities, functions, transformations, linear equations, graphing, absolute value functions, quadratic functions, rational functions, logarithmic functions, and exponential functions. Homework is assigned daily to provide an opportunity for students to practice skills learned in class.
**Pre-Calculus Prep June 19 to June 30, 2017 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM**
Strongly recommend a passing grade of C or above in Advanced Algebra (Algebra 2)
This intensive workshop covers a variety of topics that are typically a part of a high school pre-calculus class. Topics includes linear functions, quadratic functions, exponential functions, logarithmic functions, and more. Homework is assigned daily to provide an opportunity for students to practice the skills they learned in class.
**Chemistry June 5 to June 16, 2017 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM**
In this intensive workshop students will learn the concepts and skills necessary to be successful in a high school chemistry class. The workshop will cover the periodic table, atomic structure, isotopes, the mole, molecule naming conventions, chemical equations, chemical reaction types, stoichiometry, percent yield, and more. Conceptual understanding and mathematical skill-building will be emphasized. Homework is assigned daily to provide an opportunity for students to practice the skills they learned in class.
**Physics** **Prep June 19 to June 30, 2017 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM**
This intensive workshop summarizes the basic topics and skills required to be successful in high school physics classes. Topics include position, velocity, acceleration, equations of motion, gravity, Newton’s laws, energy, momentum, and more. Students will learn mathematical methods and develop their mathematical skills, but the main focus is developing a conceptual understanding of the physics topics. Homework is assigned daily to provide an opportunity for students to practice the skills they learned in class.
**SAT Prep ** **July 10 to July 21, 2017 8:30 AM – 11:30 PM**
This intensive workshop prepares students for the SAT, a required test for nearly every college applicant. The workshop covers the math and reading sections as well as the optional essay. Specific strategies for every type of question in each section are covered as well as important test strategies, such as time-management, guessing strategy, process of elimination, calculator use, and test-day endurance. Practice problems and reading is assigned as homework daily. |
