D. BASTIAT ESSAY COMPETITION

All participants will get a copy of “The Law” by Bastitat.

Based on Bastiat’s life and Candle Maker’s petition (both available on Azadi.me) and different sources on internet, write an essay covering following topics (750 words):

  1. Who was Bastiat?

  2. Which line of thought Bastiat propogated?

  3. How do you find “Candle maker’s petition” relevant in today’s context? Explain with two examples.

  4. Based on the concept presented in “Candle maker’s petition” how can government play an effective role in balancing the rights of consumers and industries? How do you see choice and competition in this?
