Approval of Minutes Motion was made by Maggie Duwe and seconded by John Hoffmann to approve the minutes of the December 11, 2012 meeting. All in favor, motion carried.
MLK Event John Hoffmann advised that the MLK event was scheduled on the same day as the Police Department pancake supper. The program needs to be finalized and the event needs to be publicized via the Webster Kirkwood Times, utility bills, churches, ADL, the Kirkwood Public Library, the chaplain’s group, CFUH, and the Ministerial Alliance.

Report of City Council Liaison Council Member Sears advised that the City Council is very pleased with the new LGBT ordinance and that it was well developed and presented. He noted that an Ordinance had been extended to prevent protests at funeral services; protestors have to be at least 300 feet away one hour before, during, and one hour after a service.
LGBT Ordinance Maggie Duwe advised that she, Darnel Frost, and John Hessel are working on the enforcement portion which will include a flow chart. The intent is that the HRC will not investigate or judge but rather facilitate.
Essay Contest The essay contest rules/question has been distributed with the due date of February 1. HRC members should rate the essays by the February 12 HRC meeting. Awards will be presented at the February 21 City Council meeting.
Accessible Parking at the Post Office An e-mail had been sent to Richard Parsons with no response being received. Efforts will continue.
Planning for 2013 A planning session of the HRC was held on Monday, January 7.
Upcoming Meetings The next meeting of the HRC will be held on February 12.
