Gujarat Anti-Terror Bill (2015) : A Bill To Curb Terrorism
The Gujarat Government on Tuesday passed a historic Bill which aims at curbing terrorist activities the new Bill is said to be a filtered version of "Gujarat Control of Organised Crime Bill (GUJCOC)", 2003,GUJCOC was returned twice to the State legislature in 2004 and 2008 by then Presidents A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Pratibha Devi singh Patil respectively
The new Bill provides Autonomy to the police and state to take necessary steps in order to curb terrorism some of its provisions are similar to those in erstwhile anti-terror laws Tada and Pota that were widely misused
Crucial Points Of Gujarat Anti-Terror Bill (2015):-
1-The Bill makes “evidence collected through the interception of wire, electronic or oral communication” admissible in the court.
2-The legislation makes offences under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime Act, 2015, non-bailable. Clause 20 (4) of the Bill states,
3-It provides immunity to the State government from legal action. Clause 25 of the Bill states, “No suit, prosecution or other legal proceeding shall lie against the State government or any officer or authority of the State government for anything which is in good faith done or intended to be done in pursuance of this Act.”
4-The Gujarat Control of Terror-ism and Organised Crime Bill, 2015 also empowers police to tap phone conversations and use them as evidence in court, to extend the custody of an accused from the current 90 days to 180 days without filing a charge sheet
Previous laws by Indian Govt to Combat Terrorism:-
Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2002 (POTA)- This Act was passed by the parliament in 2002 ,the year when terrorist attack on parliament took place.This act was passed with the sole objective to curb terrorist actvities by providing special powers to the investigating authorities describes under the act.This act replaced all major anti-terrorist act as Prevention Of Terrorism Ordinance (POTO 2001) and Terrorist and Disruptive Activities TADA (1985-95)
Terrorist and Disruptive Activities(TADA) 1985-95:- It was the first anti-terrorism law by the Govt. which could defined and counter terrorism. It was in force for ten years 1985-1995 parallel to punjab insurgency
Defination of a Terrorist according to "TADA"
"Whoever with intent to overawe the Government as by law established or to strike terror in the people or any section of the people or to alienate any section of the people or to adversely affect the harmony amongst different sections of the people does any act or thing by using bombs, dynamite or other explosive substances or inflammable substances or lethal weapons or poisons or noxious gases or other chemicals or by any other substances (whether biological or otherwise) of a hazardous nature in such a manner as to cause, or as is likely to cause, death of, or injuries to, any person or persons or loss of, or damage to, or destruction of, property or disruption of any supplies or services essential to the life of the community, or detains any person and threatens to kill or injure such person in order to compel the Government or any other person to do or abstain from doing any act, commits a terrorist act.

Aahar Scheme launched by Odhisa govt:"A scheme to feed every stomach"
Odhisa chief minister Naveen Patnaik today launched Aahar,a subsidised meal scheme for the urban poor in the state.Under Aahar Scheme rice and dal curry would be served as lunch to the poor people at a very low price of RS 5 per meal.
The scheme was launched at Capital hospital in Bhubneshwar and Rourkela Govt Hospital later.
The state government has also opened centres near city bus stand campus, Mancheswar and Museum Square in the city.
The Aahar Scheme was simultaneously launched in Cuttack,Sambalpur and Berhampur these are the places where scheme will be launched in first phase.

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson Rejects Religious Freedom Bill
Asa Hutchinson Governor of Arkansas (state of US federation) Refused to sign the controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) unless some serious changes are made in the bill such that it reflects federal version that President Bill Clinton signed into law in 1993.
How is this bill different from Federal law of US:-
Indiana's RFRA is different from federal act and most state RFRA’s because it allow lawsuits between private parties Which means it raises the possibility that businesses such as florists or photographers could use the law as a defence if they are sued for refusing to provide services for same-sex weddings. Asa Hutchinson told the law makers to change the bill such that it reflects federal one, which does not include the lawsuits between private parties.

Iran has agreed to cut its installed centrifuges (the machines that spin and enrich uranium) by two-thirds from about 19,000 to about 6,000, of which only 5,060 will be allowed to operate for the next 10 years. Iran also agreed not to use more advanced centrifuge models for a decade. For 15 years, it will not enrich uranium beyond a low level and will restrict its stockpile of low-enriched uranium to 300 kilograms — not enough for a single weapon

Al-Shabab militants kill 147 at university in Kenya
Heavily armed millitants stormed a university in northern Kenya on Thursday, killing 147 people, wounding dozens
The Somali-based Islamic terrorist group al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack — the al-Qaeda-linked organization's deadliest in Kenya.

President gives his node for re-promulgating the "Land Acquisition Ordinance"
The land acquisition ordinance which could not get converted in to legislation due to the opposition in the Rajya Sabha so President Pranab Mukherjee signed the ordinance re-promulgating as recommended by the union cabinet on March 31 earlier to 5th april the day the ordinance would have lapsed according to article 123 in The Constitution Of India 1949
The ordinance has nine amendments that reflects Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Bill, that was passed in Lok Sabha sought to replace the ordinance that was promulgated in December. President prorogued 234th session of the rajya sabha.Opposition parties demanded the passage of the original land bill that was passed during the UPA regime
