2010-2011 AAAA Scholarship Application – Incoming Freshmen The African American Alumni Association (AAAA) Scholarship was established by LMU alumni, faculty and staff in 2003 to provide financial assistance to deserving undergraduate LMU students who support the African American community. Scholarship recipients are acknowledged annually at a fundraiser that also recognizes the accomplishments of distinguished alumni and outstanding community leaders who exemplify LMU’s mission and tradition of service for others.
Conditions upon which a student can receive this scholarship include acceptance to the university, commitment to attend and full-time enrollment at LMU (undergraduate minimum 12 units). This is a four year renewable scholarship opportunity for students who continue to maintain the minimum guidelines set forth by the terms of the scholarship.
LMU AAAA Application Process: Application must be typed (no handwritten documents will be accepted). All materials submitted will not be returned. Please retain a copy for your files. The intent of this program is to compliment the LMU financial aid package. Applications will be accepted by the following means:

LMU AAAA Scholarship Selection Criteria: To be considered for an LMU AAAA Scholarship, the individual must fulfill the following criteria:
Applicant has submitted a completed LMU AAAA Scholarship Application with the requested essay by the designated deadline. Completeness of the information and quality of the essay will be taken into consideration for final awarding of scholarships.
Applicant has been accepted to LMU and will be registering with a minimum of 12 units for Fall 2010. All applicants interested in LMU admission are encouraged to apply.
Are you or your sibling the first-generation to attend college?
(Our meaning of first-generation is that neither parent has a College degree.)
Are you currently employed while attending high school?
If yes, # of hours worked weekly
Type of employment
If applicable, list immediate family members (father, mother, brothers, or sisters) who are currently enrolled at LMU, attended LMU, or graduated from LMU.

I understand and agree that the LMU AAAA Scholarship will be used solely to cover direct costs charged by the University. I understand that if I use the scholarship grant for any purpose other than stated herein, or if the information I have submitted is found to be untrue or inaccurate, I will forfeit all LMU AAAA grant awarded to me and agree to return the full amount of any grant received to date to LMU AAAA.
