Please note: the 2008 4-H Shooting Sports Teen Ambassador Training

will not be held during the 2008 National 4-H Invitational.

Complete and mail to your state coordinator your completed packet. A completed packet includes the following:
1. Application Form (Page 3)

2. Resume (see Page 4 for instructions)

3. Essay (see Page 4 for topic and instructions)

4. Certification Form (Page 5)

5. High School Transcript

6. Five by Seven (5X7) Glossy Photograph

7. Four (4) Letters of Reference: a) extension agent,

b) shooting coach or instructor, c) school representative -

principal, guidance counselor or teacher, and d) a person

outside your family who knows you well.


If selected by your state to attend the 4-H Shooting Sports Teen Ambassador Training, other expectations include a prepared presentation, an interview, a radio PSA and an impromptu presentation.

Eligibility

4-H Shooting Sports Teen Ambassador Training
The 4-H Shooting Sports Teen Ambassador Program affords teens

the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in citizenship, leadership, community service and public speaking as they travel serving as advocates and spokespersons for 4-H Shooting Sports at a variety of events and activities.


Each state may select up to two teens to represent their state at the 4-H Shooting Sports Teen Ambassador Training. (Date and location to be determined; the 2008 Ambassador Training will not be held during the 2008 National 4-H Invitational in Nebraska.)
Teens must:

  • be 15 years of age but not over the age of 18 as of January 1, 2008

  • have a GPA of 2.5 or higher

  • be enrolled in 4-H and actively participating in a 4-H Shooting Sports Club

  • be willing and able to attend the 4-H Shooting Sports Teen Ambassador Training. Teens must be accompanied by a parent/adult chaperone for the 4 to 5 day training and must bear the total cost of this training (meals, lodging, airfare, etc.)

  • return to their states, counties, and/or clubs and use their training to conduct ambassador type activities at those levels.

  • be aware that only a limited number of teens from across the nation will be selected to serve as National Ambassadors. If selected as a National Ambassador, meals, lodging and airfare will be covered.


If selected as a national ambassador, teens must:

  • serve a 2 year term; this 2 year term is contingent upon performance, not a guarantee

  • be willing and able to take limited time off from school (a minimum of 3 to 5 days per year for the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 school years)

  • be willing and able to attend the Safari Club American Wilderness Leadership School (~ 7 days) during the summer of 2009

  • be willing and able to travel alone including air travel

Your resume should be no more than three pages, single spaced with margins no less than 1 inch, and a font size no less than 12 pt.
Be sure to include your experiences in citizenship, leadership and public speaking.

Essay
